I installed the same controller recently (and a bigger/faster HD with it) and installed 10.2.8 onto the single ~60GB partition on the drive with no problems at all. (It might be worth noting that I did a clean install of 9.2.something beforehand and used XPostFacto to install 10.2, even though it isn't absolutely required for my current configuration. Aside from some crashes of the Classic version of Mozilla while downloading various 9.x updates (started with 9.0.4 on CD), everything went smoothly.
