Not that bad. The slot loaders are easier than the earlier iMac's. I never timed it, but I don't think it took over thirty minutes total time when I had to replace the CD ROM. I'm sure a skilled ASP canopen a slot loader in a very short time?

A clean install I have done before but lately my internal CD doesn't like to
boot. It mounts cds OK, it just is picky on which CD it will boot off of.
Well it may also be a CD drive issue. We had three slot loaders. (2 Summer 2001, and a Summer 2000) Two of them needed replacement CD drives at around 2 1/2 years. The failure mode was random drive whackiness. Sometimes mount a CD, sometimes not, failure to eject a CD completely, it would disappear from ASP, etc.. Replacement drives cured the problems completely. Both those iMacs are still going strong.

It's time for a newer faster Mac as soon as I can afford it.
It's always time for a new, faster, Mac. I just can't convince my boss that it's time to replace my DP MDD and get one of those new DP G5's. <G>
