Hi Brian, did you ever get your G3 up and running. After my last suggestion I started thinking about my G3 that I had pronounced dead. It had a similar problems to yours.
So today I pulled out all the cards connected to the mobo and blew out any dust. When I pulled the personality card (held in by 3 screws) it came out kind of too easy. And when I replaced it, it really snapped into the slot. I seems it was lose although by all appearances it looked properly seated. I think over the years Iıve pulled every card except this one. Put it back together, got a happy face. Did a cuda reset, zapped the pram. Someone posted 10 chimes for the pram zap, Iıve always done 7 but added 4 more for good measure. So far (4 hours now) itıs been booting without a problem. So if you havenıt already, check your A/V board. Also bad ram will stop a G3 from booting. If you have a working computer (preferably another G3) pull some memory from it and use only that memory in the problem machine. Good luck!
