I was asked to give some more info on the imac that will not start up. I am

I aksed: Were there any symptoms before the power went out?
He answered: Normally I would leave the computer in Sleep mode when
not using it but it started having problems coming out of Sleep mode. I would
have to restart or unplug the computer to get it out of Sleep mode. I did
that about 6 times and eventually I couldn't get it to power back on.
I asked: When you push the start up button, does it light up at all? Does
it go in, or does it seem that it does not go in at all?
The power light does not light at all when pressed. The button doesn't go in.
It sounds like a dead power supply, or a dead PMU, which I believe is on the motherboard. The buttons are attached to microswitches, and don't travel very far at all, so that's not a good diagnostic question.
Either is a reasonably simple fix, though costly.
