Out HP 6MP is shooting craps on us and I suspect we're going to need to replace it. We have it connected via Appletalk with a localtalk to Ethernet Farallon Mini Hub to our 4 computer network of all OS X computers. Three are running 10.2.8 and one 10.3.4. One machine is a Beige G3, two are Wallstreets and one, an iMacDV 400. Does anyone have a recommendation for a comparable Laser printer that would be ethernet ready this time around.
Check into getting it fixed; may be cheaper than getting a new one. See <http://www.fixyourownprinter.com> to see if your symptoms are cheap or expensive to fix.
The HP 2x000 series have been real workgroup workhorses for us.
The 2300 with the network stuff on it is $1000 msrp, though. They've shown every indication that they're the good ol' Laserjet workhorses of old.
They also offer the 1300N for $600 with the ethernet built in.
You can also get 'em without, and buy 3rd party ethernet print servers.
Beyond that I've heard good stuff about Brother laser printers, but I don't have much direct experience with them.
We get a pretty good EDU discount from HP, and we've really liked the reliability we've gotten with them, so we stick with HP.
