definitely time to try more/different disk repair utilities. apple's utilities catch
some
things other programs don't, but other programs will fix things that apple's programs
don't. you need at least one disk utility besides what apple has written. you still
need
apple's utils though, probably because the authors of the other disk utils assume you
have
apple's program and don't duplicate all of it's functions in their disk utilities.
power
loses like that can definitely cause major disk corruption. definitely get it
completely
fixed before doing any more work on the machine or you may lose old and new files
(cross
linking and other problems from the file system data being corrupted). this is one of
the
reasons i use a ups. small ups systems are fairly inexpensive, and meci.com has some
very
nice surplused units, i have 2 that i bought from them (one for the computers, one for
the
satellite tv). i've always been very, very happy with meci. the ups i have were made
for
ncr and are very, very nice and much nicer than "new" units for the same price.

<http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article3267.htm> proof that
the U.S. media is now state controlled! Ask your' local tv station why
the hell they aren't airing the news any more! Our system of government
requires an informed public, with their eyes open.
