Hi thanks for the confirmation. the reason for me asking is i purchased from ebay a wireless card to use in my lombard. the auction stated 802.11b wireless card 11mbs cardbus. when the card arrived it says on the card 22mbps wireless card bus card and none of the software i have tried recognises the card. when i tried it in my dell laptop the card shows up but refuses to connect to an 802.11 b wireless router. after a long google i found that the card is a rebaged smc 802.11a cardbus card and is not compatable with anything below os 10.2. but seller says i am thick and stupid and the card is an upgrade on what i ordered if i am not happy send it back. he can re-use it and he will send me another card (same model) no real point of this!!.
can anyone on the list use this card. if so let me know. as it is surplus. my loss could be someones gain. vicki > 802.11b was first. It is the original WiFi specification. 802.11a is a next > generation spec that is 5.8GHz version of the 802.11g (2.4GHz). The 'b' spec > is 11MBps vs the 'g' and 'a' specs 54MBps. > > BTW, although hard to find, some early 802.11b cards were 16bit, non-cardbus > cards. All later model 802.11b and all g/a cards are cardbus only. > > Knowing is half the battle... > > ~Rob > > >> >> Here is a question for the wireless buffs. >> >> which came first 802.11b wireless adapter or 802.11a wireless cardbus >> adapter. >> >> please let me know as i am in a dispute about this with someone >> >> TIA Vicki -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
