I would recommend just buying an internal Pioneer DVD-RW and replacing
the stock cd-rom drive. The Pioneer DVR-107D (8X DVD+R, 4X DVD+RW, 8X
DVD-R, 4X DVD-RW, 24X CD-R, 24X CD-RW) is the fastest currently
supported for Finder and 'I'app burning (requires 10.3.3 and later).
The DVR-108 (DVD+R DualLayer 4X,16X DVD+R, 4X DVD+RW, 16X DVD-R,4X
DVD-RW, 32X CD-R, 24X CD-RW) has just recently come out but is not yet
supported with out patchburn. The Pioneer drives are what Apple sells
and as far as I know are the only one that natively support Finder
burning. If you are looking for a used drive on ebay one of the older
Pioneer drive such as a DVR-106 (10.2.8 or better), though you can get
these new drives for $80 - $90.

Yes they do also record cd-r(w).

Subject: Re: DVD Writer for B&W

Hello,

can anyone recommend a DVD writer for a B&W G3? I've been to the
Accelerate Your Mac page at: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ and didn't
see any reviews that we're 100% positive. I'd like to find a cheaper
drive on e-bay than go to a Mac store and purchase a $300 Lacie drive.

If possible something that can burn from the desktop and through
Itunes. IMovie support is not important to me.

Also, this may be a stupid question but do DVD burners also allow you
to burn regular cds?

Thank you in advance.

Shawn
