I can boot into 10.2.8 and the card is recognized by the crappy profiler that, for some reason, doesn't display SCSI ID numbers and other important info. (and also tells me there is no USB device when there actually is). The Seagate Cheetah LVD/SE ST118202LC drive attached to the ATTO card is not seen.
The UL2D card is supposed to provide automatic termination at that end and my short 68 pin cable has a terminator at the other end with the drive located in the middle. The manual states the drive does not furnish termination power. Seagate says to use an "active negation" terminator. Is this overkill? Checked prices and they cost more than the card! The terminator that came with the eBay purchased cable looks cheap and light duty (I was told it was passive) but it says "Ultra 160M Terminator LVD+SE ACT NEG+HVD ISO" on it. Looks nothing like other active negation terminators. Any termination suggestions here?
To complicate matters there is a SCA 80 pin to 68 (or 50) adapter ( no termination abilities) on the drive with jumpers that duplicate what is on the drive itself. Not sure whether to jumper one, the other or both. Since it is it's own bus I left the new drive set at ID 0. The card is supposed to be at 7, but since 10.2.8 profiler doesn't give that info....? I put a jumper on the SCA adapter at ID 3, still no drive.
I'm all ears (eyes?) for anyone's input.
Thanks- Mike
