While experimenting with the "first public beta" release of OS X on my
300 MHz Beige MT, I discovered loss of devices after a failed install of
OS X.

The ten consecutive repetitions of Cmd-Opt-P-R was the only thing that
would get my machine back to its base level, with all devices being
"found" by OS 9.

This was particularly egregious as the "lost" devices happened to be my
OS 9 boot volumes, so I was stuck between the proverbial rock and the
hard place, until I, in complete desperation, tried ten resets.

So ... the ten Cmd-Opt-P-R sequence has forever after been my savior on
Beige device problems.

Ten is not a magic number ... I determined, however, that more didn't
help, and less might not deliver the expected improvement.

So, ten it has been.

(The AIO is a Beige-in-a-box, so the same approach should be used).

(Just this weekend I picked up a nice Rev. 3C AIO for $40, so I now have
another machine to experiment with).

(Likely, the AIO is going to get an install of OS X, so I have at least
one OS X-capable machine, other than a seldom used 300 Mhz Wallstreet II).
