B&W G3 450, Panther. My internal modem failed, replaced it with new one from a fellow swapper. Now about one time in four after it dials it just goes "beep, beep, beep..." instead of the usual bizarre connection sounds. Beeping will continue forever while "Connecting" scrolls across the menubar. Sometimes it responds to the "Disconnect" command from either Internet Connect or the menubar, sometimes the disconnect command is dimmed and the only way to get out of this situation seems to be to restart. Even Force Quitting everything doesn't do a thing for this, so I just sigh and restart.
There must be a better way. What am I missing?
Ideas?
Suggestions?

Rick
