Doing some searching for Norton AntiVirus problems, I found that at least two universities are distributing it, and UC Berkeley states that it was chosen over the competition which it previously distributed for OS9.x and earlier systems.
http://software.berkeley.edu/mac/nav-classic/current/ http://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/central/display/details.php3?installerID =60&nav=title Since I assume that these schools have the volume of use to recognize when a problem exists with software versions, and the expertise to sort these things out, I am wondering why they are distributing Norton AntiVirus if it is a known problem creator. Both of these schools offer instructions for uninstalling Virex. Is this a money-making deal for the schools, with no regard for the headaches that are caused for students and staff who install the software? Any comments on this from the list members?
