Hey there:
I have a friend with a problem. They are running an Airport Router with a
G4 and 2 PC's. One of the PC's talks to the Airport no problem but the
other wouldn't in the room it's in. It was moved next to the Airport
tested, worked moved back to the bedromm, "No Joy", moved back beside the
Airport again "No Joy"! OK. Here's the thing, I don't know anyone passing
wireless internet to a PC via an Airport. I didn't even know it was
possible. What are the compatability issues!? Remember at one time it
worked next to the airport and then didn't. The adapter is a USB External
type plugged into a Sony Vaio.
Apple's airport looks like any other 802.11b WAP to the PC. Check the ssid, check the WEP key; it's possible the PC's 802.11 device has died, particularly if it won't connect right next to the ABS.
(My Lucent Wavelan card has died a weird death...the WAP sees it, it's authenticated, I get a good signal, it just never talks back to the WAP to get an IP address. This has been tried with identical results on my Mac and a PC, on different WAP's, so it's got to be the card.)
