I spoke a little too soon. This one point puzzles me. I am able to burn Microsoft Office X, which is for OS X and open it fine.
However, when I burn Quicken 2004 and try to open it, I get a note:
"Item Quicken 2004 is used by Mac OS X and cannot be opened".
I hope Toast 6 will correct this.
Any answers?

Many thanks to all for your many helpful suggestions. I found Toast 5.2.1 on my computer that was left by the former owner and that seems to have resolved the problems. I bought Toast 6 on ebay and that should work.
Also Andrew, I tried your idea of reburning and that worked.
Thanks again.
