My argument is that sadly people believe that this is all there is
to computing...

Oh, I know...people who turn on their boxes with the goal of actually
achieving something useful always give me a red-ass, too. Bastards!

Um, I think we're kinda losing sight of why this particular list exists.
For the most part, the people on here are using Macs for their own personal
use. Since they themselves are paying for their toys (and often cannot
afford to upgrade), they need to squeeze the most they can out of their box.
The box that, by the way, is often not an end to itself as some people seem
to think, but is more often used as a means of accomplishing something
useful that will have an impact in the Big Room.

I understand perfectly that in the "professional" world, PC's dominate. As
has been pointed out, this is often because PC's cost less "up front." Most
companies (particularly here in America) think short-term only and do not
factor in the frustration and downtime caused by, say, crap OSes written by
companies that Don't Give A Toss Because They Already Own The World.

I just don't see the point to convincing the people on the _G-list_ that
PC's are inferior to/as good as/are better than Macs ever will be. How does
that coincide with the goal of this list: to help people get the most out of
their Macs?

Oh, and:

Ever heard of NVidia, ATI, Hitachi, Seagate, Kingston etc. ?

Macs and PCs use THE SAME STUFF!!! Bar the processor/motherboard
but even they are more than likely made in the same plants.

I'm sorry, but in my experience, that's utterly retarded.

If you're ever in Silicon Valley, we can go to the local Fry's Electronics
together and peruse the aisles and aisles of crap, Made-in-Futung components
that a lot of people here use to build their cheap-ass Windoze boxes.

Yes, I know that there are PC's built with high-quality, name brand
components. But I promise you that for every one of those, there are ten
built with components so cheap, you'd better pay close attention to how you
exhale, or your box will need to go to the shop.
