I have problems putting os x on a bw 400mhhz. It might be the memeory or the faulty ide chip. There is info on xlr8yourmac.com in the G3ZONE.
Linux has the same problems, but upto now I don't have problems when I do a hdparms -X34 /dev/hda at boot time...
