I guess you don't have any children.
You know, you were almost starting to make sense. You had me until that last sentence. But you just had to put that in there. That one last crushing "thought", the insult that says we'all must be heartless schmucks to permit stuff you haven't approved in our emails. sigh
Censorship vs Freedom.
Where do we draw the line?
Sigs with liquor store urls today.
Programs for storing beer recipes tomorrow.
How about banning all urls for companies that make Pens? I mean, you never know, somewhere on a penish web site, someone might use the word "pen" in a sentence, following it with the verb "is".
And what about urls for companies whose web sites ultimately link to or have advertising from some political or moral philosophy you dislike?
If your 11yro son cannot be permitted to view urls for liquor stores, and the other innocuous sigs and comments on these LEM mailing lists, then you have other more serious problems to address. Turn off your computer. Get to work.
OTOH,,,... So you're worried that the mention of some URL might educate your child and you want to prevent that. Can anyone recommend some filtering software for the Mac? Netnanny type fluff? Are there any out there that cannot be bypassed by children older than 8?
