"it's time to consider upgrading to OS X. I've been
using it for 3+ years and it's great! and never crashes. Sure,
occasionally an application will crash but never the OS!"

I keep hearing that OS X never crashes but I don't believe it.

I am one to have OS X (10.2.8) crash on me, though I am sure it had something to do with the hard drive that I had in my iMac. It got to the point that it literally was taking several minutes to open programs. I repaired permissions with no correction of the problem, then did an "archive and install" with no correction. I was getting frustrated at this point, and put a different hard drive in the iMac and it still runs, though not too often, since I have no sound and it is now running 8.6. I later put the hard drive into a Beige DT. I reinstalled Jaguar (this time a clean install) and it ran fine for a couple weeks. I noticed that it was starting to show signs of going down; for instance, programs would bounce in the dock a couple times and disappear, or if I got "too many" things going on at once, the screen would black out (that didn't ever happen on the iMac). I determined it had to be a problematic hard drive, though it is less than a year old and a "name brand". I got my "new" B&W G3 and removed the Apple 10GB hard drive (by same mfr. as the bad one that came w/iMac) and stuck in a WD 80 GB hard drive and it is running X.2.8 fine now. Sorry about being a little behind on the response, but I thought I needed to add my $.02
