Wow! I finally got a digest! I can't believe it! <<<<doing the happy g-list
dance>>>>

OK in order:

Nathan: YIKES I *really* don't wanna strip it down like that. But if all of
those other tips don't work, I might get desperate enough to do that. Go
from 800 mhz to 233? YUK!!! If only for a little while, what agony!

Ron: This IS the original CD drive :-(

Brian: Am going to try that, that's the easier way for sure!

Mike: no scsi controller card, just the onboard scsi on the motherboard. I
am trying to install OS X on an IDE Maxtor 20 GB drive that is split into 3
partitions, 6.x GB each, it is set as internal ATA ID 0. I would have
something else attached as ID 1 but the thing is stuffed full of crap anyway
(have my 7500's scsi drive in there, the Maxtor IDE, the apple original
CDROM and a slot-load SCSI Pioneer DVD drive). How in the world can I fit
anything else <smile> Took out the floppy and the zip to fit all that stuff.
Would love to cram another drive in there. Got an NEC 3500A cheeep (top
rated in PeeCeeWorld <I know I know> but I can always put it in the Windoze
box) and that burns DVDs beautifully, but I took it out so I could put back
the original G3 CDROM (figuring it would be more compatible for installing
OSX) and also am getting from OtherWorld that snazzy DVR-106 (wanted the 108
but OWC said no go) as a Christmas present, figuring THAT would be more
compatible. Would like to put them ALL in but alas...

Rich: the Maxtor is labeled as Mac OS Extended, is that HFS+? I can't
remember.

Anyway, thanks everyone for all of the great tips, I will have a chunk of
time this weekend and will be able to fool around with it better then. Until
then I will digest all of this information (I have copied it into a word
document to chew on until then).

This list is GREAT I really love it.
