I need to switch my memory out of my ibook.
Seems my husband tried a while back, to put the 500 ibook memory into the 700 ibook.
Seems the 700 ibook memory had an extra tab, so it wouldn't fit in the 500 ibook. So we are assuming the ram is different?
According to MemoryX the 500MHz and 700MHz iBooks take the same memory (144 pin, PC133 SDRAM SODIMM).
The System Profiler says this 700 has an empty spot for DIMM1/J12
The 500 ibook says it has a DIMM1/J12.
Are there two types of DIMM1/J12?
DIMM1/J12 translated means Memory stick #1 and Connector J12. Meaning that it is simply the first (and only) place to put memory. It has nothing to do with the type of memory.

OCW and www.memoryx.net are good. Both walk you through the type of machine to select the memory. This keeps you from I just tried 1-800-4-memory and had no problem.

OWC, yes, I had a problem once that was ultimately resolved. Other than that they've been good.
