Did anyone keep up with the PGP controversy? By that I mean: when it first came out, the feds made a Very Big Deal over the fact that Joe Sixpack now had a fairly powerful, easy-to-use encryption tool available. They made the usual argument about how the Bad Guys will use this to conquer the world and now we can't stop them, etc. Then suddenly they stopped. Was this because: The NSA went all up on it and broke the encryption? (Not as hard as it sounds. I forget the exact numbers (anyone?), but I know they make it a point to keep their computational abilities at least 5-7 years ahead of what the general public have available). or They realized that the genie was out of the bottle and it was too late (yes, even for the feds) to stuff it back in? Any ideas? Just asking. @_@ Best, James Fraser -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
