Think about reading a few books on the unix version included in OS X....there are a couple of good ones by O'Reilley that are not VOLUMES thick and easy to read and understand. They also teach you a bit of interesting things.
Have fun and be safe. I've been using OS X since 10.1 and learn something new about it everyday. I do not claim to be an expert by any means! But I have fun finding out about the various things this super OS can do.
