Dear G List: I recently purchased an EyeTV 500 which I have been unable to get to work. I have already posted a message to Elgato's technical support explaining my issue. While I await their reply, I thought I would also post my issue on a couple of lists (like this one) to see if anyone could shed any light. Below is the message which I sent to Elgato.
On Saturday, December 31, 2004, I purchased an EyeTV 500. That same evening I tried to hook up this device, but met without success. There was no option for Canada, so I chose United States. After configuring, the EyeTV window simply said, "NO SIGNAL". For signal strength, it indicated about 20%. So I downloaded the 1.6.7 update, uninstalled version 1.6.1 which came on the CD, and installed the upgraded version. After installation, the option for Canada was now available. I selected it, but still EyeTV window indicated no signal and signal strength at about 20%. I tried a couple of other things to see if I could get the unit working: 1. I checked the integrity of the coax cable to make certain it wasn't the culprit. The cable checked out perfectly fine. 2. I ran a length of coax cable from the cable outlet directly to the EyeTV unit. EyeTV window was still black. Signal strength was still showing 20%. 3. I ran the cable to the digital cable box and then out to the EyeTV 500. The window was still black. Signal strength was still showing 20%. In all these instances, I had the EyeTV 500 attached directly to the Firewire port and the unit showed a green light. Roland :( P.S.
