I hope Kyle or another tech will either shoot me or back me up on this. I thought that running Repair Permissions off the installer disk (CD or DVD) is going backward, because it does not know what updates you've made to your software and does not know about the applications you've installed.
Quite true. And you have probably updated the OS (and possibly Disk Utility) too.
