Okay, I should clarify that I use Photoshop 2.5LE that came with my 9500 - obviously out of date, so it prolly doesn't relate to any of the replies I got. I can add .jpg to the jpgs and it makes no difference if I send them to someone; they can't open them without photoshop... unless I resave them with Jpegview.

But the problem ones that started this thread were from a camera so this is not relevant. And I just do audio really!

Oh? When I save as a jpg in Photoshop, winders folx can't open them. I open it and save as in Jpegview, ad they can - but its file type is PICT. A jpg is not merely a jpg, it is some type of flavor...

File types have nothing to do with it. Most likely the jpg files you're saving in Photoshop are missing their extension.

A JPEG is NOT a PICT file. JPEG , Joint Photographic <something, Engineering, I think> Group is a standard for creating a lossy, compressed raster graphics file.

That JPEGView saves them with file type PICT is irrelevant; PC's don't care or know about resource forks, which is where that information is stored. PC's only know what a file is from it's extension.
