Further to my discussions about the Yosemite and Sawtooth, just wondering what the actual difference is between running a Yosemite with it's original 450MHz G3 compared to a 350MHz G4 processor.
The G3 will be more satisfactory for most tasks.
Partly performance, but also are there any other things that differ that depend on the processors features...
Yeah. A G4 as fast or faster than the G3 will make a big difference if you do any audio or video work. Photoshop or other graphics programs will flow as slickly as oil on ice.
I've noticed a big difference in the time it takes to render DV to MPEG 2 DVD. Also, taking a DVD and compressing it to MPEG4 seems to be substantially quicker.
