A filmmaker friend uses a Samsung DVD recorder to make transcription copies of raw DVCam footage - it has these three speeds too, but only the highest speed will play in other DVD players. Does the Philips play at all speeds onm all players?

(my SO does excellent transcribing if anyone needs it from CD or DVD...Shameless commerce dept))

Another advantage of the Philips recorder is the option to record in
three quality modes - High Quality, Standard and Extended play allowing for
1hr, 2hrs and 4hrs respectively on 120min media. The quality modes refer to
framesize with full frame dv (768x580 ? odd) being high quality.
