Every Sony I have had has been excellent including cheap walkmans and expensive receivers and pro audio recorders. And I own and use hundreds of their gear.
I do admit that since they started making them in china they aren't as robust, though. I have several radios from the early 70s that are collectors items and still work great!
Sometimes people just find different things work for them and some don't...
