Spammers do though. It was spam that caused me to change my list address
last time.

Tests have shown that any email address exposed on a web page gets spam in
short order.
That's why almost every mail archive, except LEM's, munges addresses in
their web version.

Viruses and spam are forming a nice ecosystem now. Some spammer uses my
address as a "From:", this gets to some infected user's mailbox and his
virus sends me a virus &/or more spam; or is bounced back to me with the
payload attached; and round and round.
