According to the info I was reading, the LCD backlight is kept on even when the monitor is dark (low-power, sleep, screen saver
modes, etc). IOW, the MTBF is only extended when the monitor
is physically powered-off.
I seriously contest this!
When turning down the brightness on an LCD, there is the second to last step which is backlit but very dimly, and the last step everything goes. No way is the back light still on!
