To be clear, is the grainy monitor problem during an install that either doen't complete or you cancel, or, does the install complete and you have the display problems afterward? Are you using the original ATI card that shipped with the Mac?

OK I'm trying to install Panther on my PowerMac Blue&White 400 w/ 17" Studio Monitor (also Blue&White). According to Apple this computer supports Panther. However, everytime I try to install it my monitor goes black and white and becomes extremely grainy.
My friend has installed it on his powerbook g3 500 and a slower iMac B&W without a problem.

Can anyone think of a reason why I would be getting this grainy screen? I can go through the installation motions easy enough, however the screen stays the same. What should I adjust to aleviate this issue?
