What is the Perch Slot used for on the G3 beige desktop? This is what I

Did anyone answer this yet?

The perch slot takes the "wings" cards which were custom designed for the Beige
series. There was an audio card and three audio/video cards. All of them had
a slot for an internal modem. Some folks find the video cards useful, though
the video function is obsolete, superseded by video out on pci video cards and
by firewire and usb digital video in. You kind of do need a wings card to get
audio in and out of a beige and for the internal modem, if that's the way you
want to go.

The perch slot was a good idea in modularization, sort of like the advanced
graphics slot in the newer machines, but it never got used as well as it could
have been.

Hope this helps.

Rich
