I am in 9.2 side and I can't reply under OSX, (AOL X doesn't let me send plain text emails) so I can't check personally, right this second. In OS X there is a menu for finder options, or preferences; in it you can choose to open a new window everytime you open a folder [there is a small square that you can check-mark], with time I've also learned how to "open a new finder window" to do things like this.
