What he means is that his iMac G5 passes the 137GB limit. Because HD manufacturers count 1GB as 1000MB while 1GB is actually 1024MB, because you know that: 1 Byte = 8 bits and 1 kilobyte (K / Kb) = 2^10 Bytes = 1.024 Bytes 1 Gigabyte (G / GB) = 2^30 Bytes = 1.073.741.824 Bytes so 160GB / 1.073.741.824 Bytes = 149.011.611.940 You can also count it this way: 160,00 GB * 1000 = 160.000 MB 160.000 MB * 1000 = 160.000.000 kByte 160.000.000 kB * 1000 = 160.000.000.000 Byte So: 160.000.000.000 Byte / 1024 = 156.250.000 KB 156.250.000 KB / 1024 = 152.587,89 MB 152.587,89 MB / 1024 = 149,01 GB So after formatting the HD the OS sees his 160GB HD according to Tim as a 148GB drive (actually 149GB). It gets even worse if you get a bigger HD. I recently bought a 250GB HD, after formatting I had 'only' 232.83 GB left...
