I'd like to know if this is possible too. I've got an

The cards are very different, the beige G3 uses a
Comm Slot II modem (also found in the 6400 and
6500) the slot loading and tray loading g3 iMacs use
smaller modem cards, with different connectors.

Here are some eBay auctions with pictures if you want
to see what the cards look like and compare:

I only see two completed auctions for Beige g3
modems, one sold for $39.99 and one sold for $46.25.
BUT, I see a beige G3 audio card with the modem
attached that sold for $31, and a beige g3
motherboard with RAM, sound card, and modem that
sold for $19.38. So it looks like you might get a better
deal buying a modem that's still attached to some of
the rest of the computer. You could even get some of
your money back by re-selling what you didn't need.

One other interesting note - my beige G3 had a modem
in it when I bought it, and a plastic cover over the
"modem" serial port so that you couldn't use it. My 6400
was the same way. So if you are looking for a internal
modem so that you can use the serial port for
something else, it probably won't work.

Good luck!
