Yep, just like any ATA-USB bridge. That's all this device is, it's just a 
nifty standalone bridge. Just like you'd find inside one of those cheap 
USB HD cases, just without the case.

They're widely available, I don't have any links but I've seen them for 
sale any number of places on the web. What I haven't seen is a similar 
firewire device, now _that_ would be a bit more interesting.
