For those of us new to this list, please speak english.(o:)! What is an ATA100-PCI card and what is an MDD ?
Hmm, if you don't know what ATA-PCI card or MDD is you probably don't know the answer, but of course you should know what the terms mean! :o)
ATA is the interface on IDE harddisks, ATA100 and 133 are the faster modern standards, older Macs had ATA66, and even 33 (slow!).
PCI is (obviously?) the card interface on the motherboard where one plugs the ATA card in.
The ATA card is a PCI card that will allow a further 4 IDE disks to be connected to the Mac, two buses with one master and one slave drive on each.
MDD stands for Mirror Drive Doors, the last of the G4 PowerMacs before the G5 was released. This Mac was the first to have three IDE buses, i.e. 6 devices, 4 for harddrives, thus my question, 4 + 4 harddrives in one Mac is quite a bit...
:o)

Thanks Larry,
That helps a lot, I have been associated with computers since the 70's and
it is a very fast new word curve now.
I am trying to keep up but find it difficult. )O:)~
I started fixing things with vacuum tubes and some stuff now seams to be
impossible.

Welcome to the list William. For future reference, this site offers good explanations of computer terms in general.
http://www.webopedia.com/
For example, here is a definition given for the term PCI:
Short for Peripheral Component Interconnect, a local bus standard developed by Intel Corporation. Most modern PCs include a PCI bus in addition to a more general ISA expansion bus. PCI is also used on newer versions of the Macintosh computer.
PCI is a 64-bit bus, though it is usually implemented as a 32-bit bus. It can run at clock speeds of 33 or 66 MHz. At 32 bits and 33 MHz, it yields a throughput rate of 133 MBps. Also see PCI-X and PCI Express.
Although it was developed by Intel, PCI is not tied to any particular family of microprocessors.

I got into the business near the end of tubes (late 70's), but we still had to learn tube theory because most TV's were still using them. I caught the computer bug early on and have been hooked ever since!
