John,
The ATTO Express PCI PSC SCSI card maxes out at 40MB/sec. It is a dual channel card. You can use both channels to connect up to 15 devices. You must use a single-ended (SE) terminator for SE devices, and LVD terminator for LVD devices, unless they are mixed on the SCSI chain; then, SE termination will terminate all devices. I believe a mix of SCSI types on the SCSI chain will cause all devices to run at the speed of the slowest type, but this controller may have capability to run each at its fastest rate. You will have to check ATTO's documentation. If you connect a SCSI device whose transfer rate is faster than 40MB/sec to the host adapter, it will throttle down to the max speed of the controller. The last physical device on each channel must always be terminated.
You can download the manual at <http://www.attotech.com> . If the card is not an Apple OEM, which identifies itself as NCR,875 under System Profiler, it can be flashed to the latest firmware, and its runtime characteristics configured with utilities available on the ATTO site. The non-OEM version requires drivers for OS X.x and OS 9.x, while the Apple OEM version is supported natively in all post OS 8.x Mac operating systems.

I have one of the Beige G3 systems with the SCSI pci card which I've converted to the standard ATTO ExpressPCI PSC cards. I'm still kinda confused by all the flavors of SCSI. As I understand it, this card is an ultra wide card with a 68 pin connector. Is this correct? Assuming so, will any 68 pin SCSI drive work with this? I assume that the drive transfer speed will ratchet down to the speed of the card. Am I correct about this? The ribbon cable from the card to the drive has a couple of other connectors, can I just add a drive and use one of the open connectors? What about termination. Is that not necessary with the 68 pin setup?
