That is a noble sentiment to help stop the proliferation to evil things to others.

But your machine is one small needle in the hay stack. The folks whom you want to protect from your machine are already vulnerable through their own ignorance or inattention to anti-virus software and firewalls, and they will get hit anyway from the rest of the big world out there.

Why bother?  I don't.
