Bruce is making a pun, because what probably happened to the two Macs is that the USB *short*ed something, which killed the Macs. Bruce then said they were killed in *short* order. Two uses of the same word...
Sorry, just me being a bit sensitive, having (as I thought) blown up two computers belonging to someone else isn't at the top of my fun things to do list...
As it happened they were fine, after a Cuda reset.
The USB hub was fine too when I ran it here at home, it appears that there might be a power problem where the iMacs reside...
