My in-laws had an Epson CX5400 which worked flawlessly for thousands of prints and numerous cartridge swaps. Then suddenly, 3 days before the warranty was up, it refused to print anything - it would go through the motions but no ink ever transferred to the paper. They called epson and were told that if they sent the printer back they would replace it with a new CX6400 since the CX5400 is obsolete.
I've heard that the Canon printers are good but don't know anyone who's had one. I like the printers that have seperate color tanks on them as you're not throwing out good ink when one color runs dry.
