Well, I have another clue, the fact that I was able to keep the clock setting I set last night before I turned it off makes me think the battery is good. I'll try removing the battery overall and booting the computer that way, has anyone worked their mac with no battery? anything I should know before withdrawing the battery?
Thanks! Lili
I seem to remember reading (probably from this group of lists) that the battery "helps" maintain the clock and perhaps some sort of settings associated with PRAM. Now, I'm not a tech, so my appreciation is less that scientific, but, if the computer is plugged in the battery is not drawn upon to support those basic settings. I can't see how even if the battery goes dead and you unplug your computer would cause some of the problems (other than screen funkyness).
My advice to you is to replace the battery or at least have it tested (voltmeter), to do so you should unplug your computer to avoid shock and or shorting something out. After determining the strength (or lack thereof) of your battery you can proceed with resetting your time etc. and maybe do a reinstall of your system (but don't know if it is corrupted or is necessary).
It might also be a good idea to consult "battery" under the help menu at the top of your start up window.
