10.1 is sort of intermediate OS X.
10.0 was 'Oh wow, it runs, now let me reboot into OS 9 to get some real work done.'
10.1 was 'Hey, I can use this for a few hours at a time before I have to reboot into 9 to do something like print.'
10.2 was 'Hey, I can use this all the time. Once a week or so I gotta boot into 9 to do something. Sure hope they upgrade that program soon.'
10.3 is 'You know, I'm just wasting disk space with that Classic folder I never use anymore. To the Trash with you!'
Bruce,
This is an excellent summary of the various 10.x versions.
But for business reasons I have to keep Classic around - at work we run a database that runs only in OS 9, and the client likewise only runs in OS 9/Classic. Otherwise I've been OS X-only for at least 2 years.
