Hi i can chip in on this one having an eMac sat in the front room.
Mine is the 1.25 ghz usb 2.0 model New 2 months ago. it will only boot in os 10.3 but runs classic 9.2 quicker than my ibook, that can boot to 9.2. I beleive that anything below 1ghz on an emac can boot into 9 but above the 1ghz it is X only.
