I have a Beige MT with the AV/DVD wings card. The input lines (from either the

delightfully quiet.

Has anyone a solution to this? Do I have to go to usb audio to clean it up?

That is a ground loop hum. Make sure everything in the system is connected to the same ground point and it is really grounded...

Actually lifting the ground using a ground lift A/C adapter on the mixer may eliminate the ground loop. (On a quality mixer this should not be an issue). Just don't stand barefoot in water while plugging/unplugging the power cord or while operating the mixer, just to be safe.

Impedance miss-match between mixer output and card input or between your signal source and mixer input, improper cable wiring, or using incorrect cable connectors such as a stereo 1/8" (tip/ring/sleeve) plug where there should be a mono 1/8' plug could also be the problem.

If you can, disconnect the lines to your card and can somehow monitor the sound coming out of your mixer (or from a headphone monitor jack if it has one) to see if you can hear the hum. If not it is being induced at the card or between the mixer out and card input.
