The manual probably lists IBM drives as compatible. IBM has sold it's HD manufacturing to Hitachi after the 6280M was released and I am guessing that they have not updated the manual.
Don't worry, the drive should be fine.
I picked up a drive off of ebay that was listed as gen... (you know, the word used to describe non brand name drugs and maclaunch will not let be used in an email or it will be marked as spam and bounced back to me) ...eric and even showed up that way in Apple's System Profiler and it worked fine on a 6820M
