Thanks Bruce,

The upgrade price of $100 for a larger laptop HD and a little faster
processor does sound like a decent deal.

The monitor Im planning on ordering the Samsung 710N Ive got 2 in my
office and they are really nice and bright, but not DVI. On sale now at
macmall for only $210 after rebate. A great price for a 17 LCD with a 600:1
contrast ratio; 300 brightness plus 12ms response time.

Well the issues I've seen reported have to do with CRT monitors. LCD's are so much brighter.

As for the memory Installing your own does not void your warrantee, but if you screw up the Mini in the process, your warrantee doesn't cover the damage.

if you do it yourself, go slow and careful; I've heard reports that the outer aluminum case is relatively easy to bend out while popping the catches on the base.
