Dear Folks,
I have two Ultra2 SCSI cards I'm trying to transfer
to B&Ws from G3 Beiges, where they were capable of
running a pair of wide-connector drives through a
narrow cable (matches the card connector) and an
adapter plug with an ID block. On the Beige
MiniTower, though, they showed up in OS9 but not
Jaguar. Never figured that out - tried resetting open
firmware, CUDA poking, pulling the battery, checking
permissions, etc., nothing worked so far. So I'm
trying the Adaptec/Apple 2940 U2W (and oyeah, an
Advansys too that semi-worked in the Beige MT) in a
B&W with a Seagate Cheetah 18 GB. Nope. Doesn't even
show up in OS9. System profiler knows there's a card
there but can't see anything attached to it. Anybody
been here? Any ideas? Is there a cleaner
cable/connection setup that might help?
BTW, I checked the Adaptec firmware and it's 1.2.
Flashed it anyway from OS9 using the Apple download
just in case it got confused. Nada.
Jim
