I haven't checked it with fsck.

You should give fsck -f a try, just make sure you follow the instructions to the letter.


This is a standard repair method for OSX. Since you have had crashing, there are likely errors that have developed, assuming the machine will stay running long enough to complete the repairs. May not fix the ultimate problem, but can help prevent additional software or data problems.

I did a google for 'scc /3/7'. There's a few results from bent monitor pins, to just an issue with the test program and the 7457 chip. You might google it and go through the various results to see what best fits your symptoms.

SCC may represent Apple serial communication controller.
