Acard ATA/IDE pci controller card is same, sees drive as scsi, and requires drives be initialized on it to be seen. I believe this is pretty standard. I copied data to those drives from drives on stock internal IDE bus after I initialized via Acard.
This isn't necessary with SIIG's controller, at least their 133 one. Despite it displaying the drive as an SCSI device, I was able to transfer a drive formatted on the native bus on my beige, and plug it right in without a hassle. Also, I recently transferred the two drives I had on the card to a DA g4, again without reformatting.
